The caterpillar didn't seem to understand Alice's confusion. 毛毛虫似乎不理解爱丽丝的困惑。

So you think you're changed, do you? 所以你认为你变了，是吗？

I'm afraid I am, sir, Alice replied. “恐怕是的，先生，”爱丽丝回答道。

I can't remember things as I used to, 我记不起以前的事情了，

and I don't keep the same size for ten minutes together. 而且我连十分钟都不能保持同一个大小。

The caterpillar told her to repeat a poem called You Are Old, Father William. 毛毛虫让她重复一首名为《你老了，威廉爸爸》的诗。

Alice folded her hands and began, but the words came out all wrong. 爱丽丝双手交叉，开始念，但说出来的词句都错了。

That is not said right, the caterpillar said decidedly. “那说得不对，”毛毛虫断然说道。

Alice felt very irritated. 爱丽丝感到非常恼火。

I should like to be a little larger, sir, she said. “我希望自己能再大一点，先生，”她说。

Three inches is such a wretched height to be. 三英寸真是个糟糕的身高。

The caterpillar reared itself upright. 毛毛虫直立起来。

It was exactly three inches high itself. 它正好有三英寸高。

It is a very good height indeed, it said angrily. 这真是个好高度， 它生气地说。

Then it crawled away into the grass, 然后它爬进了草丛，

merely remarking, 只是随口说道：

One side will make you grow taller, “一边会让你长高，

and the other side will make you grow shorter. 另一边会让你变矮。”

One side of what? thought Alice. 什么的一边？ 爱丽丝想。

Of the mushroom, said the caterpillar as if she had asked aloud. 是蘑菇的一边，毛毛虫说，好像她已经大声问出来了一样。

Alice stretched her arms around the mushroom 爱丽丝伸开双臂抱住蘑菇。

and broke off a bit of the edge with each hand. 然后每只手掰下一小块边缘。

At last she had found the secret to controlling her size. 她终于找到了控制自己大小的秘密。
